Lower Triglycerides

May 31st, 2010 -- Posted in Health | No Comments »

Lots of people nowadays are more and more concerned with their cholesterol levels and lowering their triglycerides. Studies have shown that lowering triglycerides will also lower your chances of getting a heart attack or stroke. You may be wondering what triglycerides are and how you can control them. Triglycerides are fatty deposits that are stored throughout your body. When you have an excess amount of triglycerides in your body, they will then start to accumulate and build up in your blood stream as well.

These excess fatty triglycerides in your blood can cause your blood to start to thicken and can cause serious problems with your heart and can even cause blood clots that can lead to strokes. You can lower your triglycerides by eating good foods that won’t turn into glucose and add to your triglyceride levels. Eat good foods that are low in carbohydrates to keep your glucose levels down. Eating less sugar and eating less bread, and products with flour in them can help in reducing your triglycerides levels.

There are some great vitamin supplements you can take that will help you control and lower your triglyceride level. These are fish oil pills and omega 3 oils. Trans fats and hydrogenated fats are bad for you and will raise your triglyceride level as hydrogenated fats have actually had hydrogen gas pumped into the oils to give it a creamy substance. Good fats that come naturally in meat and eggs are good for your system and your body burns them to give you the energy you need on a daily basis.

You’ll want to get your triglyceride level checked and then follow a good diet consisting of healthy foods that are low in trans fats and cholesterol. Fish oils pill supplements can be very helpful as well as getting on a good low carbohydrate diet.

Sun Tan Lotions And Tanning Accelerators

May 30th, 2010 -- Posted in Featured, Skin Care | No Comments »

Everybody likes to have a nice tan. Medically speaking, a tan is just damage to the skin caused by sun rays. Getting a tan actually makes you slightly less healthy. But overall, we tend to think that people with a tan look better and healthier than people who look pale. This is kind of a paradox, but let’s not dwell on that for too long. The fact of the matter is that people like to get tans, but not everybody is equally capable of achieving one. Some people let themselves bake in the sun for hours, but don’t even come close to that bronzed look they desire so much. continue reading »

May 28th, 2010 -- Posted in Cosmetics | No Comments »

So you’re dressed like a rebel in your leather jacket and have an awesome set of flash in your collection. Before you try chasing your dreams of a syndicated tattoo shop television show, you need to need to get to know some basics. Art on paper is one thing but putting needle to flesh requires some knowledge. In order to make good use of your tattoo machine, you have to be able to set it up. Tuning your tattoo machine is surprisingly easy. Read on and you’ll find that what you need to know is not too complicated.
Safety and sanitation is paramount in tattooing, so it would be no surprise that you have to keep this in mind when setting up your tattoo machine. To proceed, unplug the clip cord from the machine itself and the power source, as well as your foot pedal. There’s a very clear distinction between making these adjustments on the fly, with a client and doing them during your free time. Be sure to be extra cautious when making changes while working with a customer. The armature arm, front spring, and contact screw are the parts you’ll be most concerned about for this procedure.
Asides for the simple disassembly and reassembly of the tattoo machine, the greatest technical bit you need to be aware of is the gapping between the contact screw and the front spring. With the machine disconnected, hold down the armature arm, and set a gapping of dime width for lines and a nickel for shading, between the front spring and the contact screw. After you’ve set the gap for the appropriate job on the tattoo machine, lock the contact screw in place, and reconnect all the cables to the machine. Test everything for functionality, make sure everything is clean, and get to tattooing!

There is no better way to learn than from experts in the field. Cade Orvin and Jacob Hiller are two of the leading experts in vertical jump training and they have created a program that will will help you learn how to jump higher than you ever thought possible.

As with any exercise, it is important that the person completing them is healthy enough to start a new exercise regimen. Athletes may consult with a physical trainer or physician if they have any concern about this issue.

Jumping exercises, as with any exercise, should be done on a consistent basis. Many find it helpful to stick to a schedule when it comes to exercise. It is also important that the person doing these activities limit the days they do them to avoid getting burned out and giving up on their goals.

The first thing a person must do before straining themselves is to warm up. This gets the muscles ready to exercise. Warming up can be accomplished by walking briskly or doing any other form of light cardio activity.

Proper Exercise Strategies for Effective Fat Loss

May 25th, 2010 -- Posted in Fitness | No Comments »

Fat loss is on the minds of many these days and there are countless options that claim to be the most productive at doing so. However, finding the right method of healthy fat loss can sometimes be difficult and some people find themselves trying multiple different methods but not receiving the results they want.

A commonly attempted way to achieve weight loss is through a steady paced cardio workout three to five days a week. This method has been deemed the best for your all round health by doctors and other health professionals, but recent studies suggest that it may not be the most efficient way to lose that unwanted fat.

Tests have proven that our bodies use the highest levels of energy in short yet quick exertions followed by an extended period of rest. In fact, recent experiments have proven that physical activity of this nature is often more beneficial towards weight and fat loss and an overall better fitness level than slow and steady cardio workouts.

The main reason for this fact is that a paced cardio workout only works the heart and body at a certain level which is often not high enough to produce the results you want. The body can also become used to the workout through constant repetition and the positive effects will slowly decline resulting in wasted time and energy.

Unlike a cardio workout, a workout that includes quick energy exertions will keep the body guessing from day to day and will force the heart and body to work at maximum efficiency. It is when the body reaches this climax that the greatest levels of energy are expended and the most calories are burned. The result is a large amount of energy used and an even larger amount of benefits collected and all in a smaller amount of time.

Methods such as these have been tested and proven to produce higher benefits than cardio workouts, and weight loss is often seen on a grander scale and at a faster pace. Therefore, if you look to lose some of your unwanted body fat, quick exertion exercises such as sprints or jumping are your best methods of doing so.

Blast from the Past

May 22nd, 2010 -- Posted in Exercise Equipment, Featured | No Comments »

It’s a cool, lazy afternoon. I’ve been staring mindlessly at the computer screen for at least three hours, a bag of chips resting on the table. I have abused Facebook and Youtube for quite some time now.

I think back to the days when I spent all my free time out in the streets playing with my childhood friends. I can’t help but smile at the memory of how tomboyish I was; taking part in bike races with my brother’s friends.

So I logged off the computer, changed clothes, and took the bike for a spin for about half an hour. I kept doing that every other day until one of the neighboring construction workers borrowed the bike.

But boy, was I refreshed! The change of scenery and the exercise really did me good.

It turns out that aside from lessening the time I spent on the computer frying my brain, a bicycle had many other benefits as well. continue reading »
