BPA Found in Paper Receipts

August 31st, 2010 -- Posted in Featured, Health | No Comments »

Since long, federal regulators like lawmakers and health experts were wrestling to prohibit the use of bisphenol-A (BPA) from food and beverage containers. However, a recent environmental study has discovered the use of high levels of BPA in the manufacture of thermal paper, the type used to make paper receipts. Almost 40% receipts from gas stations, supermarkets, automated teller machines and chain stores included BPA and the amount was 1000 times that found in the food can’s epoxy lining in some cases. This seems to explain the BPA presence in the urine of 93% American individuals. continue reading »

The Symptoms of Tendonitis

August 29th, 2010 -- Posted in Featured, Healing | No Comments »

A tendon is a tough but elastic band of fibrous tissue that connects the muscles to the bones.  It is the skeletal muscles that are responsible for movements of the bones, thus body movement is elicited.  Did you ever wonder how it was possible? Well, it is the tendon that made swift movements possible.  Tendons are behind the force of muscle contraction.

There are several tendons scattered throughout the body, and they come in many forms.  The small ones are found in the fingers, whereas, the large ones are found in some areas of the body, like the Achilles tendon. continue reading »

Peptic Ulcers: Causes and Treatments

August 28th, 2010 -- Posted in Healing | No Comments »

When people are stressed, often you will hear them say “This is going to give me an ulcer!” This sort of talk makes it sound as if ulcers are merely a normal part of life that occurs when you are suddenly placed under a great deal of stress. We all known that stress is not good for your mental health, but is it really possible that it would cause physical problems such as ulcers to develop? When you develop ulcers, you will be required to take antibiotics in order to prevent them from becoming worse. Finding your prescription drugs online can help to prevent the  stress of finding a convenient pharmacy who does not charge an arm and a leg for your medication.

Causes of Peptic Ulcers

For a long time, doctors commonly believed that ulcers were in fact caused by stress, spicy foods, and alcohol.  Since stress and alcohol often go hand in hand, it was not hard to believe that people who were extremely stressed were the most likely to develop ulcers. It was not until 1982, when doctors Barry Marshall and Robin Warren discovered a certain type of bacteria that the mystery behind ulcers was finally discovered. The discovery made by Marshall and Warren was a special bacteria that was able to thrive in the stomach. The majority of ulcers are not caused by stress and spicy foods, but in fact by an infection of the little bacteria known as H. pylori.

Formation

The formation of ulcers is a three step process. The H. pylori bacteria weaken the protective layer on the inside of the stomach and small intestine. Acids, which are used for digesting your food, is then able to penetrate the protective layer and irritate the sensitive walls of the stomach and lower intestine. Eventually, this irritation causes open sores or ulcers. H. pylori is the most common bacteria to cause the weakening of the protective layer, however there are other reasons this may happen. When taken regularly, anti-inflammatory drugs may have the same effect.

Peptic Ulcers Treatment

If you are experiencing stomach pains and suspect ulcers go talk to your doctor. He will run a few tests and provide you with a diagnosis.  He will provide you with a prescription for an antibiotic to kill the bacteria causing the protective layer of the stomach to weaken. If you are unable to make it to a traditional pharmacy, an internet pharmacy will be able to fill your prescription and deliver the medication straight to your door.

Is the Website Promising a Low Cost Vasectomy Reversal All It’s Cracked Up to Be?

August 25th, 2010 -- Posted in Health | No Comments »

While a vasectomy is considered to be a permanent solution as birth control and around 600,000 men take advantage of it every year, there are those who for one reason or another change their minds.  Most often this is due to a change in relationship status.  In fact figures show that 25,000 to 60,000 men change their minds every year.  You aren’t the only one looking into a reversal.

Even as important as a vasectomy reversal is to the couple looking into the possibility, cost still remains a factor.  This is why most couples look for a low cost vasectomy reversal.  It is, however, important that you get the successful pregnancy and, therefore, the children you want so you can all be a family together.

To this end you must take advantage of the information that is now so readily available on the Internet.  Don’t be deceived, however, by some flashy website that seems to mostly consist of a low price tag for the vasectomy reversal and little else.

What you want is to be able to know important details about the doctor who owns the website.  Does he provide credentials on his background, training, certifications and schooling, and even the amount of vasectomy reversals he has done?

Does the website let you know how he performs the surgery?  Done right, a reversal is a microsurgical procedure.  This means there are certain kinds of equipment and materials he uses.  Is this information available on that flashy website with the enticing price tag?  What kind of optical device is he using to view the field in question?

Does the website outline all the things included in that low price vasectomy reversal?  If the procedure is done in a hospital, is that fee included?  How about the anesthesiologist’s fee?

How about financing?  Just like with tubal reversal financing, it is nice if the website lets you know your various options for coming up with the amount of money required.  You know or should learn that in most cases your health insurance will not pay the cost of a vasectomy reversal.

Does the website make you aware of the possibility that you won’t have a straight vasectomy reversal, or more precisely a vasovasostomy?  What happens to that low cost vasectomy reversal if a vasoepididymostomy is required instead?  This is something that can’t be determined until the surgery has begun.

The above are just a few things to keep in mind when some website on the Internet promises you your dream of children for a low price.  Be sure to inquire about the above.  That is another thing to know.  Can you ask questions and get answers.  Sometimes you can find that the low, low price tag is low for a reason.

Premium Shampoo for dog dry skin

August 25th, 2010 -- Posted in Featured, Skin Care | No Comments »

There are quite a number of causes for your dog to have itchy and dry skin.  If you happen to notice, that your dog is doing a lot more scratching then usual,  then you should spend a bit of time trying to figure out the origin of the itch.  Which of course, is easier said than done.  You kind of have to be a bit of a cross between a private detective and a veterinarian to come up with the answer.  One of the things you should try not to do, is to irritate the itchy spot yourself.  If you really want to find the cause, there are a few approaches. continue reading »

August 25th, 2010 -- Posted in Featured, Fitness, Health | No Comments »

About a year ago, I started getting serious about my health.  I started off on a new fitness regiment called P90X, and in the beginning, I was sure how serious I was going to be about the whole thing.  That meant doing some pretty intense workouts, and eating properly as well.  It was the eating properly thing, that I was waffling a bit about at the beginning.  In the end, I decided what the hell.  If I’m going to do this thing, I may as well commit to it 100%.  continue reading »

You Only Have One Back

August 24th, 2010 -- Posted in Back Problems | No Comments »

Redmond chiropractor clinics all seem the same. I have been looking for a new chiropractor since I first moved to Redmond three years ago. I have had back trouble for years, but it has not been as bad since I moved to this area and have been spending less time rock climbing. Rock climbing was not very good for my back but when I was younger that did not bother me so much. Now I am paying for my bad behavior of treating my back poorly.

Redmond Chiropractor Offices – Few and Far Between

My last chiropractor was amazing but I have been unable to find a Redmond chiropractor I like quite as much. There are a lot of great doctors in the Jackson Hole, Wyoming area. There are so many active people who want to live there and it is so expensive that a lot of them end up being doctors and other great professionals. Make the whole area nice, you see. Anyway, there are a lot of great chiropractors, but mine was particularly amazing because he also climbed and understood the way a body has to move when climbing, as well as how it would be most stressed. He also never advised me to give up the sport, despite all my pain. I believe he thought it was therapeutic, which is what I also believe. But when your body ages, all of that changes and the things that used to be a great stretch and exercise can actually cause harm. Luckily, I was never too badly injured during or following a climb.

So if you know of any active chiropractors in the Redmond area who do great work and are accepting new patients, I would love to go for a few adjustments, just to feel good again. I guess like climbing going to a good chiropractor just becomes so addictive.
