About a year ago, I started getting serious about my health. I started off on a new fitness regiment called P90X, and in the beginning, I was sure how serious I was going to be about the whole thing. That meant doing some pretty intense workouts, and eating properly as well. It was the eating properly thing, that I was waffling a bit about at the beginning. In the end, I decided what the hell. If I’m going to do this thing, I may as well commit to it 100%. And for the most part I did. I followed their health guide, which included taking multivitamins every day. To be honest, that was the easy part. The workouts were pretty intense, and I quickly learned, that eating properly had a serious impact on my performance during the workouts.

There’s nothing that will make the body feel better, than eating right, exercising, and getting a good nights sleep for a couple of weeks. It takes a while for the body to adjust, and it took a while for me to get used to knowing what to eat, but WOW what a difference in how I felt. I had energy, I felt more enthusiastic, and I felt more confident about everything in my life. Fast forward one year, and I’m still following the nutrition guide and doing the exercises. Once you make it a habit, it gets really easy to follow through.

It’s undeniable that millions of people don’t get enough exercise in their lives every week. The American Heart Association recommends at least twenty minutes a day of vigorous exercise three times a week, but many people fall short week after week, despite the fact that the time commitment is small and fun cardio exercises actually exist.

One of the reasons many people don’t follow an exercise routine is that they dread the thought of huffing and puffing for half an hour every other day, doing an activity they hate. Additionally, traditional cardio exercises like running and sports can be very hard on the joints, especially the knees, and for many people, cardio training like this is out of the question.

However, with skating, your feet are on the ground almost the whole time, which is a smooth experience for your joints, and you’re able to go faster on wheels or ice than you can running, so it’s a more fun experience in general. Skating is a great workout for your quadriceps and hamstrings, and if you make an effort, you can also incorporate your biceps, triceps, and shoulder muscles while you skate to give them a thorough workout as well.

For those afraid of falling or with poor balance, roller skates are extremely easy to balance on due to their dual row of wheels. Stopping is simple, and usually involves pressing forward or backward to let the “brake” scrape the ground and slow you down. Skates are best used on very smooth surfaces, such as rinks, linoleum, and smooth concrete surfaces. For people interested in group activities, roller derby is exploding in popularity as a sport, and an entire game can be an exhausting workout but very fun.

For those looking for speed or a more multi-purpose option that can also be used as a form of transportation (once you’re able to stop consistently, that is), inline skates, or roller blades, are a more streamlined version of skates that usually provide more of a workout than roller skates, simply because they aren’t used on as smooth of surfaces, and you will actually have to get your quads burning to get traction on bumpy surfaces.

Ice skating is another skating alternative that may depend on your proximity to a rink to determine how feasible an option this is. Holding yourself upright on the thin blades is a workout in and of itself for many people, but the satisfaction of learning to skate, turn, and stop on the ice is undeniable. Many ice rinks offer arrangements where skaters who are good enough to teach younger children the basics will earn free ice time for themselves to skate. And if you do enjoy ice skating, you can join a hockey league and get inexpensive ice time as well.

Next time you find yourself dreading exercising, try to expand your horizons a little and look for activities that are genuinely fun that will get your heart rate up at the same time. You will be a healthier and happier person for your cardio workouts.

Whether you know it or not, you have done a deadlift before. Maybe you’re at home thinking of those big bald guys you can watch on the World’s Strongest Man competition. There’s always a marathon on TV during the Thanksgiving holiday where you can watch guys turn purple and deadlift giant tires on a axle of a barbell.

But even if you’ve never set foot in a gym or lifted weights in your life, you have experience with deadlifts.

There is no way to avoid deadlifting

The deadlift is one of the most fundamental movements there is. Here is the most simple definition: picking something up off the ground. You bend down, grab hold of an object, and stand up with it.

If you have ever picked up a laundry basket, you’ve performed a deadlift. Ditto if you’ve ever lifted a baby off the floor. The concept doesn’t change much if you’re pulling hundreds of pounds on a barbell off of the floor.

It is such a pervasive movement that it is smart to learn to do it well. Unfortunately, lots of people are scared to practice pulling weight off the floor (on purpose).

Deadlifts have a reputation of being dangerous. And when you watch someone really strain to pull something heavy up, it’s easy to see how people get that impression.

The truth is, there is no “never” or “always” with the body. We can usually find some way to hurt ourselves, and we can usually find ways to move better and keep ourselves safer.

I do a lot of heavy deadlifting, but the worst I ever injured my back was bending forward to tie my shoes. Something just went wrong and then I was in pain.

How to deadlift safely?

There is nothing “wrong” about the hunched over position I was in. I believe that the body is capable of a lot more movement than we think it is. That if joints weren’t supposed to move, they would have been bones instead.

But if I were to round my back, lean down, and pull on something heavy, I’d probably deserve to get hurt.

Unless I could make it look effortless and easy. These are some suggestions I apply to all of my strength training movement:

Don’t use more tension than necessary

Don’t get pulled drastically out of alignment with the effort of the lift. Abandon it first

Make it look easy, and it will eventually become easy

On that last one, let me clarify: there is nothing easy about deadlifting heavy weight. But it can look easy if the lifter’s face stays calm, if there is not unnecessary tension, and if there aren’t a bunch of sticking points during the movement–moments where the movement slows drastically.

Whenever you are picking something up off the floor, sit back, reach down for it rather than bending forward to get it, and make it look easy. Whether it feels easy or not, it will become easier with practice. You’ll get better at deadlifting every day.

When a movement feels easy, in my experience you’re less likely to get injured by it.

Another thing that really helps with my workout routines, is having a fitness trainer. Every club has them these days. I noticed a few Seattle personal trainer types working their students out pretty hard last time I was out. When I did the P90x workouts, I thought that having Tony as my personal video trainer was enough for me. But, I can see how having a good trainer working with you side by side can be a real benefit. If your doing exercises a little different than you should be, then it’s helpful to have someone right there to point things out. It can not only make your workout that much more efficient, but also keep you from hurting your self.

Fat loss is on the minds of many these days and there are countless options that claim to be the most productive at doing so. However, finding the right method of healthy fat loss can sometimes be difficult and some people find themselves trying multiple different methods but not receiving the results they want.

A commonly attempted way to achieve weight loss is through a steady paced cardio workout three to five days a week. This method has been deemed the best for your all round health by doctors and other health professionals, but recent studies suggest that it may not be the most efficient way to lose that unwanted fat.

Tests have proven that our bodies use the highest levels of energy in short yet quick exertions followed by an extended period of rest. In fact, recent experiments have proven that physical activity of this nature is often more beneficial towards weight and fat loss and an overall better fitness level than slow and steady cardio workouts.

The main reason for this fact is that a paced cardio workout only works the heart and body at a certain level which is often not high enough to produce the results you want. The body can also become used to the workout through constant repetition and the positive effects will slowly decline resulting in wasted time and energy.

Unlike a cardio workout, a workout that includes quick energy exertions will keep the body guessing from day to day and will force the heart and body to work at maximum efficiency. It is when the body reaches this climax that the greatest levels of energy are expended and the most calories are burned. The result is a large amount of energy used and an even larger amount of benefits collected and all in a smaller amount of time.

Methods such as these have been tested and proven to produce higher benefits than cardio workouts, and weight loss is often seen on a grander scale and at a faster pace. Therefore, if you look to lose some of your unwanted body fat, quick exertion exercises such as sprints or jumping are your best methods of doing so.

When seeking out the many home fitness workout programs on the market there are many that are designed to help a person shed unwanted pounds and develop great muscle tone. The best home fitness workout, however, is one that keeps the fitness minded individual interested and engaged. If it is not attention grabbing and entertaining, you will probably lose interest and most likely the workout ritual will be quickly abandoned.

When dieting is not enough, and toning is a must, there are several options for a great home exercise program. Workout equipment is a great option for toning and muscle building, from free weights, used to build and tone muscles, treadmills, where the user can walk or run indoors, or elaborate weight lifting stations, with include bench presses and weight lifting devices. If this is the route that you decide to take, then you will need to decide which type of workout gear would be best for you. Exercise gear of this type can be purchased to fit any budget from an inexpensive stair stepper to expensive high tech electronic equipment. Equipment can sometimes be purchased used as well. Ebay is a great resource or the local newspaper for sale ads as well.

There are also many exercise DVDs that are entertaining and exciting. Some of these videos are great fat burners and can help one tone up at a rapid rate and have a great time doing it. Dance workout videos are a popular choice as they can be purchased in almost any dance style. From disco to techno, any type of workout video is available to tone and teach groovy dance steps while getting a great cardiovascular workout at the same time. These dance workout videos can be found in almost any location. A quick internet search will give a great listing and all kinds of options for finding the perfect dance workout video that will help you to develop a lean, mean dance style.

Many well know fitness trainers also offer great workout videos. One popular series are the pilates DVDs by Mari Winsor. See Winsor Pilates DVD Review for a review of some of the most popular. Besides dancing, there are also videos that tone and teach using fighting techniques such as Tae Bow and kick boxing. But if fighting and dancing are your style and getting the whole family involved in the fitness program is important, the search for fitness may be found in a video game. There are many that involve physical activity such as the Wii video games. The Wii fitness program offers the user the option of weighing in and a program that is tailored to their particular weight and ability. From yoga to bowling, and even running in place, the system will also chart the user’s progress. Families can exercise together and create many hours of quality time playing the exercise workout games while competing in good wholesome family style fun.

The Fit Over 40 is a truly interesting eBook that is making quite a stir on the World Wide Web these days. It is written by Jon Benson and co-authored by Tom Venuto. The purpose of this article is to provide you with a brief Fit Over 40 review so as you know what to expect and what you can acquire from this particular program.

To begin with, this eBook is unlike most of the weight loss programs out there that you most probably have heard or read already. Although the eBook does contain a handful of information regarding what food/s are healthy and not, as well as the types of exercises that will best suit your age, it will not tell you what to eat and what particular exercises to perform and follow. What it does instead is motivate you and give you ideas on how you can obtain your goal in a much better fashion and all of which is done by providing you with tons of real life examples.

In this eBook, you will get to know the main author better as he imparts the struggles that he personally went through in his life, just so he could transform his “aging & sagging” physique into the man that you see before you today. So, what really makes this eBook a priced catch is the fact that you can easily relate to it.

The eBook also imparts a couple of useful tips on how you can slow down the process of aging. This is the part of the program where the co-author Tom Venuto comes into light. He explains the importance of aerobic training, strength/weight training and how bodybuilding men and bodybuilding women over 50 and even above is very much possible.

Are you looking for some weight loss tips that you can use when you are doing your cardio workouts? There are a lot of different things that you can do in order to lose weight fast, but you will want to make sure that you remember these tips when you are doing your next workout so that you will be able to get more out of your exercise. There are several different ways that people prefer exercising, but not all of them are as effective as they could be. Here are a few tips that will help you to be able to lose more weight while doing the same amount of exercise.

One thing that you can do to be able to get more from your cardio workout is to break it up into smaller exercises. Instead of doing one long 40 minute workout you will want to break it up into four smaller 10 minute workouts. This will help you because your metabolism will never slow down the way that it does with a longer workout. This means that you will be able to burn a lot more fat than you would be able to with a longer continuous workout.

Another way that you will be able to get the same type of results when you are doing your cardio workout is by taking a break about half way through. If you have set aside an hour to do your exercise routine then you can do 30 minutes of working out and then take about a 20 minute break and do the other 30 minutes after your break. By taking a break the hormones that are used to burn fat will be allowed to work much better and faster and therefore will help you to lose weight easier and faster.

There are a lot of other fast weight loss tips that you will be able to use to be able to take the weight off that you want to get rid of. By using these tips you will be able to give your system a break while you are working out which will allow it to work faster and easier when you start your workout back. You will still be doing the same amount of exercise but the results that you will get will be much better than the ones that you have been getting with your exercise routine in the past.

There is a reason that baseball is known as the national pastime. An important part of American culture, baseball has been played and watched for generations, and the players have become nothing short of national heroes. This season, check out the best mens trainers for baseball that all of the pros are sure to be wearing on the field.

Baseball season does not begin until April, but the best players spend the entire year training. The Nike Air Pregame Training Shoe is designed to keep feet safe and dry while practicing in all conditions at any time of the year and is a fantastic pair of nike trainers. Rubber traction on the sole makes this shoe a great choice for multi-directional movement.

The amateur baseball player may want to find shoes that are functional for playing but do not cost a small fortune. Those players might consider the Mizuno Franchise Low Molded Cleats. These cleats offer 9-Spike technology and are made out of lightweight materials that make them both comfortable and durable.

Players who like their baseball shoes to make a fashion statement as well as an athletic one should take a look at the Nike Air Show Elite cleats. These shoes come with ten swoosh logos in different colors that they can change to customize the shoe. You can make up your logos for your shoes at a free logo design site. They are not only fashionable, but they have many features that make them both durable and comfortable.

Whether playing on the field or watching from the stands, it is impossible to deny the impact of baseball on sports fans. It is not likely that baseball will be losing its popularity anytime soon, so players need to stay up to date on the best footwear for baseball. Look for these picks on the field at the next home game while you are enjoying all of the action!
