Panic attacks or anxiety attacks as they are called can be draining mentally, emotionally as well they also experience physical symptoms of panic attacks. During a panic attack, the person is so gripped with fear and terror, as if the worst is closing in upon him and there is no escape from it. And in that span of an attack, the person’s body loses all control, and symptoms are unnerving and intense.

And once a person experiences a panic attack, fear of the next attack drives him to get overtly anxious and disturbed. And it is the suddenness of the anxiety attacks that creates much of the shock and fear. If he or she suffered from an anxiety attack whilst indulged in a particular activity, then that person becomes fearful of ever repeating that activity again. This way slowly, these panic attacks can take over and disrupt an individual’s life.

Panic attacks can well be combated with various therapies. Of course, it is not as easy as just willing them away to get cured. It does take immense efforts on the part of patient. Therapy is able to address more than just the symptoms of the attacks but is able to address the root cause. They can reach the root of the problem, as the root is always severe anxiety in the person that might have been caused due to some stressful events or conditions.

For combating panic attacks, the first thing that needs to be done is stopping the onset of the attacks and the next step is to deal with the underlying anxiety which is the root cause for all the panic attack symptoms. The severity of a panic attack in itself can instill so much fear within the person, that the prospect of another panic attack can drive the person to suffer from another panic attack.

The most important thing is to control and eliminate all the fear of the anxiety. If you can supplement the medical therapies and medicines with will power and strength, then, you can overcome the trouble of the panic attacks.

Only those who have ever experienced a panic attack will know the severity and what it takes to go through it. Instead of fearing the panic attacks, try with all your mental strength to tell yourself that you don’t fear the anxiety or the panic attacks. That itself is a step towards getting cured of Panic Disorder.

Most people who suffer from driving phobia are often afraid to speak out or even to seek help because they think they are the only ones with this kind of “silly” condition. The fear of driving is not silly because it is a very serious condition and the number of people who suffer from it is so high you would be surprised. Victims of this condition choose to seek avoidance techniques or ways to live with the condition rather than seeking permanent treatment. The good news is that this condition, just like any other fears, is treatable. You need not give up driving just because you get nervous, sweaty, dizzy and palpitations every time you are driving under certain conditions.

This form of fear ranges from mild worries to full-blown phobia, the kind that ruins families, interferes with social life and even damages careers. The driving phobia can be caused by a variety of things, the most common being memories of past crashes, near misses or accidents that one may have witnessed or was involved in especially as a child. Since this is a mental problem that comes from negative thoughts and imaginations, the best way to deal with it is to devise ways of keeping the mind occupied with positive thoughts or other things other than actual driving so as not to give room to negative imaginations, thoughts and “what if’s” that result in fears.

In order to overcome anxiety attacks while driving, one must admit the fact that these fears are unreal and are a problem that should be beaten. There are several self-help methods including relaxation, meditation, relaxation and visualization techniques that can help one overcome the fear of driving. In a nutshell, you can beat the fear of driving, you just have to believe in yourself, find confidence in your driving and eventually the fears will subside and fade away.

Menopause is another phase in a woman’s life that she has to undergo. For many women, menopause is a crossroad of physical, emotional and intellectual changes that they have to pass through all at the same time. To think about reaching this crossroad is already depressing but it really doesn’t have to.

During the menopausal stage, most women experience tension, mood swings, irritability, extra emotional sensitivity, anxiety and depression. All these emotional experiences are unusual for them or their character so they associate these as menopause symptoms. Actually, there is no definite biological or psychological happening that marks the beginning of the menopausal period. A lot of women who have gone through the menopausal period knew in retrospect that they were undergoing it 6 months or longer after their last and final menstrual period.

The menopausal period usually comes during midlife and during this stage in a woman’s life many other changes are also occurring in her life. Perhaps, her children are already getting married, going to college or trying to make their own lives and they experience the so-called empty nest syndrome. Or, she may be confronted by grief of a parent’s death and perhaps contemplating on her own mortality.

Moreover, a woman in her 50’s usually stops and looks at her life – her accomplishments, her financial security, emotional fulfillment, and social significance. If all these are not met according to her expectations, it creates pressure in her which eventually leads to feeling down and blue leading to depression. Also, during the menopausal period, a woman experiences physiological changes like the thinning of the vaginal cells which causes dryness of the vagina resulting to pain during sexual intercourse.

Adjustments to this change sometimes involves change in the way they view themselves as sexual beings leading to feelings of low self-esteem, then to depression. Moreover, most women dread the coming of menopausal period because for them, it means a decline of their youth and seeing these signs happening to them is depressing.

Depression can happen anytime in a person’s life. When your day is not so good, you feel down and blue at the end of the day and you say you are depressed. The day after, everything changes, you’re up again and the depression is gone. In the same way, depression is more like an emotional crisis that rises along with menopause. Thus, menopause and depression can come closely together but they are not linked to each other. Depending on a woman’s life experiences, she will have to cope up with this crisis for a long time, seek professional help or not at all.

Unless a woman had undergone ovarian surgery, the menopausal period would inevitably come to her sooner or later in her 50’s. But accepting it as a new phase in her life that implies maturity, gaining new insights, accepting new roles and embracing challenges, then menopause doesn’t have to be depressing.

You probably walk around with tablets and hope that the next attacks will not be so severe. Would you believe me that there is a natural way of overcoming panic attacks without having to resort to over the counter or prescription drugs like anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills?

Medications do not cure anxiety disorders in any way, no matter what you believe. What happens is that they only keep the anxiety under control for a short period of time by suppressing the symptoms without addressing the underlying problem, the cause of the attack. Another thing you have to know is that since panic attacks are most likely long term, using drugs for long have extensive side effects from mild to severe, the most common being drowsiness. Others include nausea, headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, blurred vision and change in sex ability and sex drive. You would not want to experience these, especially later in life.

The best ways to treat panic attacks is the use of natural remedies to train the mind on how to control panic attacks especially through behavioral changes. Cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT is very effective in treating panic disorders. What happens when you get panic attacks is that your mind focuses on negative aspect of fear.

This treatment will help the mind learn to focus on the positive aspects of life and changing the thinking and behavioral patterns especially before and during the attacks. Undertaking this therapy will assist you understand how to change the way you think, how to nurture positive thoughts to give no chance to fear and how to react well to anxiety situations. This is a permanent solution to anxiety related disorders and panic attacks.

There’s more to life than money and riches, what about happiness? Many think that creating a happy life means financial success or obtaining material possessions. Yet there are those who find happiness in family and service to others. Then there are those who have found spiritual enlightenment who seem to have transcended the physical needs of fame and fortune and have found total happiness.

So what are you doing today to create your happy life? There’s a saying about finding happiness; you don’t find it, happiness finds you! Most people who have inner peace and happiness in their lives realize it’s not about what you own or what you’ve accomplished professional, but more to do with the relationships in their lives. When most people are asked what makes them happy, more often than not it has something to do with friends and family.

I doubt anyone has ever said on their death bed, “I sure wish I would have worked more.” Its so common for people to confuse happiness with external things. True lasting happiness begins within us. If we cannot find happiness inside or with ourselves, no person or thing is ultimately going to bring us happiness. Any happiness we do feel from external things is short lived at best, and we’re always left wanting more.

The reason why most people continually try to buy or wrestle happiness out of life through external sources is because it’s easy. Face it; it’s a lot easier to purchase a new hi-def TV than it is to search our inner souls for our fears and/or seeking self-enlightenment. That’s why most people don’t truly work on those things until they’re desperate enough. We live in a drive-through world and people want to be happy now!

The key to being happy now, is figuring our first what’s keeping you from being happy within yourself. Think about how difficult it is to purchase a gift for a friend whom you don’t know very well. Sure you want to get them something that will make them happy, but it’s hard when you don’t really know them intimately. Now think about how well you really know yourself. Did that new car really satisfy your happiness and leave you with a life-long feeling of satisfaction? Probably not.
