Common Fat Burning Foods

There are many common fat burning foods available to the the health and weight conscious consumer. The important thing is to know what types of foods to consume and to fit them into your overall diet plan. With so much media attention on quick weight loss, it’s often all too easy to fall into diet and weight loss fads.  Instead eating low fat and fat burning foods along with fat burning exercise really are the keys to successful weight loss with often permanent results.

Jalapenos are a great fat burning food to add to your weight loss list. They not only have a tasteful kick, but they can kick someone’s metabolism up a notch! There is a chemical in jalapenos called capsaicin. Capsaicin boosts metabolism and speeds up your heart rate which in turn burns more calories.

Green Tea is a popular fat burning food as well these days as people are consuming this tea cold and hot all around the world. Green Tea contains a chemical called EGCG that sends the brain and nervous system into overdrive, causing more calories to be burned. This reaction is similar to what caffeine does to the body.

Another food to add to the fat burning foods list is lean beef. Lean beef is high in protein and is harder for your body to digest, causing the body to burn more calories. When eating lean beef, consumers also often feel full faster which causes them to not to overeat.

Something that most households always have in the fridge is milk. Milk is full of calcium, which can act as a metabolic trigger. It is best to buy skim or reduced fat milk, and if possible buy organic. Milk can contain other hormones that might interfere with weight loss if it is not organic.

Grapefruit is another common fat burning food. Grapefruit lowers the insulin levels in the body that trigger our systems to store fat. Grapefruit is a great breakfast food; just be sure not to add any sugar.
