Pull Up Bars: A Beginner’s Guide to Investing in a Pull Up Bar

Buying a pull up bar can be quite an involved decision. Pull up bars come in many shapes and sizes; from large metal free standing structures to small ones that fit inside a door frame called doorway pull up bars, all the way to very large multiple user bars, like the ones that can be seen from time to time in public parks.

First, it is important to decide what type of bar you want. Is there enough space in the garden or back yard to accommodate a free standing structure? If there is the space, then the options available range between just a bar with legs to support it, or more commonly, a workout station that incorporates a Roman chair (for doing crunches) and a dip station (which helps your physique in different ways).

Also, take into account the weather in your area. If it snows for 6 months out of the year, without extreme dedication, it will be very difficult to drum up the necessary enthusiasm to get out there and work!

All of these considerations do not matter if you opt for an indoor solution. These bars generally wedge into a door frame and are free hanging. No fuss and after use can get taken down again.

Generally, the free standing bar with other workout stations gives more variety and freedom in what can be done, but at a larger price versus the indoor door bar. Both of these types of equipment can be found at the nearest fitness or general store. You will find that there are quite a wide range of prices and varying levels of quality. If in doubt, ask someone that uses the kit that you are looking at and ask for the pros and cons.

As with a lot of fitness kit, the choices for pull up bars can sometimes be bewildering, but if you first think about what you want out of them, then the solution becomes a lot clearer.
