Quickest Way to Lose Weight

Unfortunately, many people find themselves wanting to lose a few pounds quickly.  Many various reasons are often given, such as going on vacation, attending a reunion or wanting to fit into a particular piece of clothing. Losing weight quickly is not usually recommended, especially if a person wants to keep the weight off, but there are several techniques that may help lose a few pounds rather quickly.

One suggestion is to reduce the amount of carbohydrates consumed which may help an individual to lose water weight. Reducing salt (sodium chloride) intake while increasing potassium is yet another technique used to help reduce water weight. Leafy greens provide a good source of potassium. Drinking sufficient water, at least eight glasses per day, is important as well as eliminating or reducing drinking drinks with a lot of sugar such as sodas and alcohol. When losing water weight, the weight often does not stay off as it is not the same as losing fat.

Nutritionists advise not to skip breakfast. Unfortunately many people think that by not eating breakfast they are reducing calories. Although this may be true, breakfast is very important in many aspects. Studies have shown that a good healthy breakfast is important in weight management as well as maintaining normal sugar and energy levels to start off the day. Including protein in the breakfast is helpful in keeping constant energy levels through the morning. The leaner the protein the better and good choices include turkey fish and egg. Other choices include the use of a protein shake using whey or soy protein.

Although many previous diets emphasized consuming as little fat as possible, recent studies show this is not completely true. The body requires fat for many processes. What is important is the type of fat and the amount of saturated fat consumed. The better fats at room temperature are typically liquid and include olive oil, flax seed oil as well as foods like fish, most nuts, and flax seeds.

These are only a few suggestions on quick ways to lose weight with diet management. As mentioned above, when trying to lost weight quickly, the weight may not stay off and the methods are not always healthy. Often the result is a net weight gain after losing a few pounds. There is some research stating that when calories are quickly reduced in a diet for more than just one meal, the body more or less goes into a starvation mode and holds on to any fat and extra calories. This only makes it more difficult to lose weight. Many of the suggestions included above are not just for a fast weight loss but healthier approaches to eating and can help an individual lose and keep weight off. When combining a healthy diet and moderate exercise, a healthy body weight should be a realistic achievement for most people.
