One of the most important tips for running begins at ground level: Choose Quality Shoes
Your shoes are the most important item of running gear that you will own. So don’t skimp on them! A “quality” running shoe is not always the most expensive you can find. Often times, the more expensive shoes will have a lot of unnecessary extras that you don’t really need.
A quality shoe means one that you have selected only after a great deal of thought and care. You will be able to select a much better shoe match for you if you know what kind of foot type you have, and what your particular running needs are. And a good match will provide you with many dividends in terms of a healthy and happy running career.
Knowing Your Foot Type
In order to find the correct type of running shoe for you, you first need to know what type of foot motion you exhibit while running:
- Neutral
- Over-Pronation
- Supination (Under-Pronation)
You can discover your foot motion by researching the topic on the internet, but it is easier and more reliable to visit a specialty running store, and have your foot motion evaluated by an expert.
Visit A Running Shoe Store
The internet is also a great place to browse and learn about what types of running shoes are available. It’s always good to do your homework first! But for your very first purchase, you don’t want to buy running shoes over the internet. It’s a better option to buy them at a specialty store where the staff can provide you with expert advice. That way, you will know for sure what type of shoes you really need.
Once you have found a great pair of shoes and worn them out, then you can consider buying a replacement pair online. By then, you will know a lot more about what shoe model and size is right for you.
