The Benefits of Jogging
All of us jog for a variety of reasons. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is always on the forefront. Jogging is a great way to clear your head and take much needed time for yourself.
Jogging is also a great way to complete a full body exercise without the use of machines. The only must have tool that you need are the proper shoes. Purchase shoes that are designed specifically for jogging and only wear them while jogging. Your shoes must also be appropriate for your body size, foot arches, distance, and the surface you will be jogging. If you’re a man, a good pair of men’s activewear pants is a good idea, especially for cold weather.
Design a jogging program to make sure that you keep on track. Your jogging program does not need to be complex. Utilize your plan as a tool to keep you motivated and committed. At minimum plan out how many days a week you will jog, your distance and time. Keep in mind that if you vary your locations and jogging surfaces you can maximize your workout, challenge your muscles and have a nice visual mix.
If you are just starting out, take your time. Start with as little as ten minutes and add a bit more every day. Or alternate five minute intervals of walking and running until you build your stamina. Don’t forget to stretch before and after your jog.
It is not possible to list all of the benefits that jogging adds to your life, but here are some of the most important:
- If you don’t use it you loose it. Jogging and exercising regularly prevents bone and muscle loss.
- Increases your blood circulation and oxygen supply. A healthy cardiovascular system reduces your risk of heart disease and stroke.
- The endorphins released while jogging and exercising make you happier and reduce signs of depression.
- Regular physical activity increases your energy level in all areas of your life. I know it can be tricky, but find the extra time.
- More restful sleep is achieved with a regular jogging program. Your muscles are loose and the feel good endorphins help you to rest and relax.
- Regular jogging increases your metabolism and speeds up your digestive tract. This means that you will burn more fat and calories even when you are not jogging. As well your body will digest your food more efficiently.
As always consult a physician prior to starting a jogging program. Create a jogging program with achievable goals. Search online for quality discount athletic wear for your hobby, and remember: If you fall of track, you can always hop back on!
Here’s to your health!
